2025 VolunTEEN Summer Program

The 2025 Eskenazi Health Summer VolunTEEN program is an opportunity for experiential and service learning, providing community youthwith a chance to gain a realistic perspective of a career in a health care environment. It is also a great way to network with peers, meet career professionalsand gain community service hours needed for school and scholarships.

Teenagers 14 - 19 years old (must be 14 by Friday, February 28, 2025), who areinterested in a career in health care and are in good academic standing, can now sign up for the annual summer VolunTEEN program. This program places a special emphasis on learningabout careers inthe healthcare, educational requirements, goal setting, and volunteer service. Some examples of careers we explore include medicine, nursing, physical therapy, Biomedical Engineering, mental health, and health care administration.

Eskenazi Health will beoffering 3 summer sessions;applicantsmay choose one of the following three sessions:

Session 1:June 2 - 13, 2025

Session 2: June 16 - 27, 2025

Session 3: July 7 - 18, 2025

Each two-week session will run Monday - Friday, from 9am - 1pm

Activities include:

Week 1:Activities include facility tours, professional development/career presentations, and CPR training.

Week 2: During week two teens will rotate through presetclinical and non-clinical activities, allowing them to view the workings of a community focused health system.

Meal tickets will be provided for participants to use during the scheduled lunch breaks from 12pm - 1pm.

All applicants are required to complete the Eskenazi Health VolunTEEN Summer Program online application. This year, in place of the 500-word essay, applicants will answer 2-3 questions using HireVue video interviewing to discuss their experiences related to health-care settings, career of interest and how this program may help them learn more about the dynamic and evolving healthcare setting. (Link provided after submission of application). Each applicant must also submit a short, one page summary (resume) of their academic preparation and extracurricular activities in support of their application. The summary will be uploaded and submitted online through the application portal.

A mandatory health screening is required of program participants and provided by Eskenazi Health Occupational Health clinic. The screening will include a Quantiferon Tuberculosis Blood Test and verification of immunizations.(teens must provide copies of their immunization records when attending health screenings appointment). More information on the health screening and other requirements will be provided to participants selected to join the summer program.

Program participants will receive a program t-shirt, free parking in the Eskenazi Health Parking Garage, and Meal tickets. There is no charge to participate in this program.
