AI Programs Director
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.
The AI Programs Director provides strategic and technical leadership for implementing and maintaining responsible AI practices on behalf of the Digital Platform Artificial Intelligence Office working collaboratively and cross-functionally with other stakeholders supporting responsible AI objectives in furtherance of the Responsible AI program and multiple large/strategic enterprise-wide AI programs made up of multiple projects. Manages projects of at least $20M+ in size or equal complexity overseeing the daily implementation of AI risk management policies and procedures.
How you will make an impact:
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure Responsible AI requirements are developed, implemented, and properly monitored
• Manage a system for tracking and monitoring AI-related risks across different projects and operations
• Responsible for supporting and implementing AI's strategy to ensure the ethical and safe deployment of AI and machine learning models
• Provides strategic direction for developing enterprise project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risk, contingency plan, and allocation of resources.
• Provides expert knowledge of risk management methodology approaches, techniques, and tools to senior management.
• Directs system analysts, software designers, and programmers to determine the best methods to achieve project objectives.
• Coaches and mentors project team members; mentors other project managers around Responsible AI and risk management methodology
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field of study and a minimum of 15 years of enterprise project management experience in broad-based information systems managing increasing project size and complexity that are transformational in nature for the organization, full life-cycle application development and/or building enterprise applications; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
• Experience in an effective team environment, building strong relationships, negotiating, solving problems and issues, resolving conflicts, and managing resources in a matrix environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience implementing large-scale AI systems and familiarity with NIST AI RMF and the relevant operational controls and best practices is preferred.
• Experience in government/legislative development bodies, regulators, standards bodies, in designing and implementing operating models, governance, AI risk management policies and controls in any of these areas, or multilateral collaborative groups is preferred.
• A strong understanding of risk management principles and practices is preferred.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring project team members is strongly preferred.
• Experience using portfolio management applications and Rational tools is strongly preferred.
• Project management certification (PMP) is strongly preferred.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $177,600 to $266,400
Locations: Palo Alto, CA, New York, NY.
