Position Summary

This role is dedicated to enhancing student retention and overall experience within the graduate programs at the Daniels College of Business. Operating in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment, the individual in this position will work closely with team members, Associate/Assistant Deans, department chairs, University offices, staff, and faculty to plan, develop, and deliver comprehensive student services. Key responsibilities include advising students on degree options, course selection, scheduling, and academic policies and procedures. This position also oversees academic processes such as graduation certifications, preliminary graduation reviews, course substitutions, transfer credit evaluations, academic deficiency notifications, extensions, and petitions to various academic units. Additionally, this role contributes to the design, implementation, and evaluation of student experience initiatives, such as orientation, graduation ceremonies, and other student-centered events. The individual will assist in creating and maintaining academic support materials, student tracking systems, and other departmental resources. As a member of campus and college committees, this position will actively participate in strategic planning to support the goals of Graduate Student Services and ensure an exceptional academic experience for graduate students.

Essential Functions

Advising: Manage a portfolio of Daniels' graduate students to ensure all students are making academic progress in their degree and are informed of relevant academic and administration information. Provide academic advising services and registration assistance. Onboard incoming students to ensure retention and success in graduate program. Respond to student concerns and issues regarding course schedules, degree completion and/or registration procedures utilizing strong problem-solving skills to meet student needs.

Policy/Procedure: Assist Graduate Student Services team with academic processes including graduation certifications, preliminary graduation reviews, course substitutions and transfer credit evaluation, course scheduling, extensions and petitions to various academic units and academic deficiency notification. Provide support for international students with CPT and OPT requests and processing. Assure compliance with Accreditation, DU and Daniels academic standards.
Program Management: As part of the student services team, this position will participate in the planning and execution of student-centered activities such as orientation, graduation, and other events. This will include communication to stakeholders, development of necessary printed materials and management of overall execution of activities related to student services. Develop assessment tools to evaluate programs, offerings and delivery of activities. Provide leadership in working with Associate/Assistant Deans, departmental chairs, University offices, staff and faculty to ensure a seamless experience for students.

Strategy: Serve on campus or college committees as requested. Participate in strategic planning, development and management process in support of Graduate Academic Services.

Other: Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Graduate Academic Services.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in higher education and/or advising
  • Experience with student tracking and/or customer relationship management software
  • May work occasional evenings and weekends as related to orientation and college events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in business or associated discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. May work occasional evenings and weekends as related to orientation and college events. In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $65,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
