Job Title:Assistant Director - Risk and Emergency ManagementDepartment:Student Life | Safety and Security

Reporting to the Director of Risk and Emergency Management, the Assistant Director for Risk and Emergency Management provides leadership and direction for risk and emergency management operations for Student Life (SL) including risk assessment and mitigation planning, all hazards safety education and training, threat and hazard assessments, crisis and incident response, and student organization risk reduction including hazing prevention education. Leads and provides central oversight for the Student Life Issues Management (SLIM) teams comprised of senior directors and associate vice presidents within SL as well as leads business continuity planning across the SL division; directly supervises 1-2 full time staff including a risk reduction specialist, one emergency management training specialist to achieve organizational goals; serves as the primary resource for all 42 SL department directors for emergency planning and response consultation; coordinates all hazards and building emergency action plans (BEAP) among all 42 Student Life departments and facilities (5.8 million sq ft) on the Columbus and 3 regional campuses; assists Department of Public Safety with planning efforts related to Student Life emergency support functions; develops, implements and leads Clery (all hazards housing safety training), PERRP (BEAP) and Colin's Law (hazing) training programs and procedures in a manner that fulfils the mission and strategic goals of Student Life; serves on University Emergency Operations Center team representing Student Life for emergency planning and response leading mass care resources including housing, food and student counseling services for university wide emergencies; serves as the alternate for the Director leading all aspects of incident and event management response for issues having significant impact to the university community; serves as a team lead on the Campus Activism and Event Engagement team, helps establish goals, priorities, resources, services and policies for management related to strategic and assessment planning for REM; serves on university wide committees representing Student Life for risk and emergency management related issues; forms relationships with various Student Life, University and external stakeholders; assists in the management of overall department budget and strategic planning process for Risk and Emergency Management.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Qualifications

6 years of relevant experience. Completion of FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, 800 classes. Previous training facilitation and leadership experience. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be available 24/7 for emergencies or as operations dictate.

Desired Qualifications

Master's degree in public policy, emergency management or related field. Experience in a higher education or emergency management setting; completion of FEMA ICS 300 and 400; Certified Emergency Manager designation, 8 years of relevant experience.

Target hiring range: $94,400-$124,200
