ROLE TITLE: Assistant Professor in Painting and Drawing

Summary of Position

Allegheny College, a selective national liberal arts institution, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Painting and Drawing, starting in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach six courses per year, focusing primarily on painting, with a secondary teaching area in drawing. Additionally, the candidate will be required to teach a non-media-specific junior seminar course. All Allegheny faculty teach in the college-wide speaking and writing seminars and will contribute to the holistic advising model, which can involve first-year advising all the way through to senior project advising.

Experience and Qualifications

An MFA is required by the time of appointment, and applicants should have demonstrated success with ideally one-to-two years of experience in teaching painting and drawing at the college level. The ideal candidate will also have an active record of exhibitions.

The portfolios should contain 20 images of the candidate's own work and 20 images of student work (if available). Please include in the PDF descriptions (title, media, year, size) and any contextual information that may be useful to understanding your work. Applicants who advance to the next stage may be asked for graduate school transcripts. Applications are due by December 1st, 2024.
