Job Summary

This position holds a high level of responsibility within the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Kelley School of Business.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides support to Department Chair in managing the department, including administrative, academic, and personnel activities.
  • Serves a lead role in managing the department, overseeing activities of staff, mentoring staff, and developing best practices across the administrative team by assessing needs, determining objectives and setting goals.
  • Manages department teaching schedules and manages activities with academic programs at the Kelley School and other Indiana University units.
  • Manages activities with other Kelley administrative groups, such as Dean's Office, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, and Office of Marketing and Communications, and external stakeholders, such as alumni and corporate partners.
  • Oversees department processes related to faculty hiring and seminars and supervises graduate assistants, research assistants, and hourly employees.
  • Serves as a unit resource for performing research, preparing reports and disseminates information.
General Responsibilities
  • Manages a small project, from start to finish, or 1 phase of a large project, ensuring on time completion within budget.
  • Develops project plan(s) and efficiently analyzes, tracks, forecasts, and reports on project metrics and shortfalls.
  • Reports on progress and provides regular updates to upper management.
  • Coordinates and communicates between various areas; conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure that project objectives are achieved within established time frames.
  • May provide guidance and support to non-exempt staff.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred
  • 3 years of relevant experience

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
