Duties: This individual will be providing biospecimen services to the scientific community. Working in a clinical environment, this position will involve tissue collection and processing including sectioning and standard histological procedures; Label samples and assist with specimen inventory and tracking; Communicate with biorepository users regarding protocols and sample availability; Ship and track biosamples per IATA regulations; Maintenance lab equipment; Coordinate work flow for project related activities in a team environment; Maintain records and documentation for lab and bench activities. Will require travel to multiple locations, valid driver's license required. Special projects and other duties as needed.
Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED and 5-7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Histology skills or experience with molecular laboratory techniques preferred, other technical skills a plus (i.e. aseptic technique or cryopreservation). A working knowledge of medical terminology and medical experience either in a clinical and/or research setting is required. Experience with phlebotomy and/or molecular laboratory techniques a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills required; Knowledge of IRBs and Human subject protection regulations; Requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Applicants must have effective problem solving abilities, strong multitasking, organization and time management skills. Must be detail-oriented, accurate and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment; Some evenings, and weekends as needed. Rotating responsibility for late and on-call schedule. Valid drivers license required.
