Summary:

Performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.May have to travel to satellite locations to perform diagnostic procedures.When ordered, prepares and administers ultrasound enhancing agents (UEA) and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes in status as thorough comprehensive preliminary report of study data to Physician staff.

Accredited Program: Ultrasound Technologist (Required)American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE), BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year experience imaging congenital heart defect and surgical repair at an accredited ICAEL institution. **Joe DiMaggio Preference: In lieu of one year of experience, will accept new grads (within 1 year of graduation). Other Information: **Appropriate Florida State Licensure depending on modality of supervision. Obtain American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RDCS (AE) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) RCS Credential within six months of hire.Must have reliable transportation for roles supporting Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.Additional Education Info: Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program.Additional Credential Info: ARDMS or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) RCS Credential
