Job purpose

Our Production Leads are an integral part of the American Products team. The Production Lead works with the team to make sure our products are built in the safest manner with highest quality possible.

A Production Lead is assigned to a certain line/cell and is trusted to prioritize demands and develop their team members. We develop our team members through patience, guidance and by creating a safe environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety is always #1. Lead by example always and keep the Safety Manager informed of all near misses or concerns.
  • Ensure product quality through product inspections, process checks, and setting the example for team members. This includes meeting regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a supportive, positive atmosphere by adhering to our core values in everything you do.
  • Advise team members of job requirements and ensure their personal efficiency and consistent, proper training.
  • Maintain scheduled product completion and ship dates by keeping product flowing throughout the production process.
  • Departmental housekeeping is paramount. Cluttered and unsightly work areas are not safe, nor do they project a professional image for the company.
  • Learn and understand all tools/machinery that are within your scope of responsibility. This allows you to better assist your team members when they need help.
  • Recognize resource needs in advance to ensure proactive planning for your lines. These resources may include people, machinery, special tooling, etc.
  • Continually look for growth and cross-training opportunities within your department and throughout American Products.
  • Lead your team in the direction of continuous improvement, encouraging them to identify non-value-added waste.
  • May include other duties as needed to support the American Products production process.

Qualifications

Education
  • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires a solid understanding of safety requirements and the ability to spot concerns.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, shop floor documentation, customer specifications/diagrams, and instructions provided.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have the mechanical aptitude to assemble products with high quality.
