The candidate will be assigned to the OSU College of Medicine - Cherokee Nation (OSUCOM-CN) Tahlequah, OK Campus.
Job Summary:
The duties of a Clinical Assistant Professor include teaching, research/scholarship, and service/outreach. Research/scholarship may include, but is not limited to, mentoring medical and graduate students, publishing peer-reviewed articles, being an active member in their professional society.
Responsibilities:
Teaching:
-Effectively instruct/teach one or more subjects within the osteopathic medical school and the biomedical sciences graduate curriculum. This will include preparing and delivering up-to-date, accurate content in the form of classroom lectures, problem-based learning sessions, case scenarios, and on-line modules.
-Engage in curriculum planning and development of learning units related to microbiology and biochemistry.
-Actively engage in the assessment of student learning.
-Participate in course management and administration; serve as course co-coordinator as required.
-The candidate will teach graduate courses in microbiology and biochemistry and other graduate courses as needed.
Research:
-Research/scholarship is expected and may include, but is not limited to:
*Conducting independent (educational) research, intramural and extramural grant funding, *publishing in peer-reviewed journals
*Presenting board reviews
*Active participation in professional society - conference presentation
Environmental Hazard:
Possible exposure to hazardous material, hot andcold, blood
borne pathogens.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry push, and pull 50 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, rasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Required:
-Ph.D.in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or in a related field with specialized training, or equivalentexperience.
-Previous experience teaching effectively in medical education.
-Valid Oklahoma Driver's License
