The primary role of this position is to serve as a generalist counselor, offering clinical services at DRES. The ideal candidate will be a versatile professional, adept at working both independently and collaboratively. Key responsibilities include providing individual therapy, supervising graduate student trainees, coordinating therapy matching at DRES, and delivering outreach and prevention programs.
About DRES

The Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) offers a variety of resources and services to support Illinois students with disabilities. Our mission is to ensure that qualified individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in and benefit from the programs, services, and activities at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We achieve this through reasonable modifications to institutional policies and procedures, effective auxiliary aids and services, innovative educational programs, and interdisciplinary disability research. Currently, over 4,000 University of Illinois students are registered with DRES.

Mental Health Services at DRES

Our mental health team consists of clinical and school psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed counselors. DRES also serves as a training site for social work interns, psychology practicum students, predoctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows. We offer both individual and group therapy for students registered with DRES, addressing a wide range of disabilities, including medical, physical, and mental health conditions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling/psychotherapy for DRES-registered students with disabilities.
  • Conduct training and supervise interns and practicum students.
  • Coordinate/co-coordinate DRES therapy matching.
  • Provide group counseling/psychotherapy for DRES-registered students.
  • Participate in psychological emergency and trauma response.
  • Engage in peer consultation and group supervision with other clinicians.
  • Participate in various DRES services, educational and research activities, and division, college, and campus committees.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in social work or counseling; or doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or school psychology. Experience working in a diverse setting as a generalist mental health clinician. Illinois state license eligible as Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supervising mental health trainees. Currently possess appropriate professional licensure in Illinois: Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong clinical skills in therapy are required.
  • Must possess demonstrated interest in diversity (including disability) issues.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 2/3/2025. The salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $90,000.00. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
