This Commercial Business Development Specialist ("Commercial BD Specialist") is pivotal in driving organic deposit growth while expanding our market presence. Combining strategic thinking with strong relational skills, the Commercial BD Specialist will be responsible for identifying new commercial deposit opportunities and promoting our banking products and services through targeted sales strategies.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Identify and target prospective clients to generate new deposit accounts.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to generate leads, attract new clients to achieve deposit growth targets.
  • Conduct presentations and meetings with potential clients to showcase our deposit products and services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maximize client engagement.
  • Monitor market and industry trends, client preferences and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth. Utilize data-driven insights to refine sales strategies and enhance market positioning.
  • Promote banking products and services through various channels, including networking events, cold calling, and digital marketing initiatives. Collaborate with marketing team to develop campaigns and promotional materials.
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations, policies, and procedures. Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, pipeline activity, and conversion rates. Maximize utilization of company CRM to provide visibility into business development efforts and achievements.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and technological advancements relevant to banking and business development.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
  • 10 years banking, financial or related field experience
  • Proven track record in business development, sales and relationship management, preferably within financial services or banking.
  • Strong understanding of commercial deposit products and services and of financial markets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Goal-oriented with a strong drive to achieve results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret data and market trends, identify opportunities, and develop actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute effective business plans. Demonstrated ability to think creatively, solve problems, and drive results in a competitive market environment.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with banking regulations and policies.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Financial industry certifications (e.g., CFP, CFA, CTP).

Level of Complexity and Scope
  • Requires comprehensive understanding of the commercial business landscape, including market dynamics, client needs, and competitive pressures.
  • Must be able to navigate and adapt to changing business environments and market conditions.

Degree of Independence and Decision-Making
  • Operates with a high degree of independence, making strategic decisions related to development activities.
  • Responsible for assessing potential opportunities and making recommendations to senior management.
  • Expected to proactively identify and resolve issues that may impede the business development activities.

Required Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May lead cross-functional project teams and/or provide guidance and mentorship to junior business development staff.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend industry events, and pursue business opportunities.
  • Prolonged periods of deskwork.
  • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, phone and office equipment.
  • Occasional moving within the office or to other locations within the building.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying light objects, typically up to 10-15 pounds.
  • Occasionally reaching for items on shelves or in drawers.
  • Clear and effective communication in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to move within an office environment.
