In order to ensure your application is complete, you must complete the following:The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (OMFR), is seeking a full-time dental assistant who is trained and licensed in dental imaging. This team member is responsible for providing patient in a busy Imaging Clinic where over 5700 patients are treated per year. The current OMFR team includes an oral and maxillofacial radiologist, dentists, dental hygiene educators and dental assistant/imaging technicians.
The dental assistant provides support in the Imaging Clinic where students provide care to patients; acquires intra- and extraoral digital images on patients; manages patient flow through the clinic; maintains a supply of sterilized instruments, and imports and exports digital images. Responsibilities also include checking-in patients, accurately entering patient information into the electronic health record (EHR), greeting and escorting patients from reception area to treatment rooms, escorting patients from treatment rooms back to reception area, preparing rooms in between patients (includes tear down, infection control procedures and set up), taking incoming patient calls, scheduling appointments with patients, and assisting with patient check-out; maintaining quality assurance and infection prevention in the clinical setting; maintaining a respectful and supportive environment for the patients, students, staff and faculty; and communicating effectively with patients, students and team members to facilitate timely patient care.
This position requires successful completion of background check(s) and drug & alcohol screening.
Target Hiring Pay Range: $17.31 - $22.75 based on experience and education.
Work is performed in both a clinical reception/patient check-in area and an office environment, and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions. This position requires finger dexterity, the ability to use both hands, and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, and operate dental x-ray equipment. The ability to sit and stand for a duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: blood-borne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); and latex.
Qualification Required:
High school diploma or GED
1 year of relevant dental imaging experience.
Training in dental imaging.
Ohio dental assistant dental radiographer's license or certified dental assistant.
Qualifications Desired
2-4 years of relevant dental imaging experience
computer skills that include electronic health records (EHR) experience and Microsoft Office expertise
experience in registering patients in a clinical setting
knowledge of x-ray principles and techniques, safety practices and procedures
skill in operation of x-ray equipment and digital intraoral sensors
ability to deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context and understand technical instructions
ability to communicate and cooperate with co-workers, and maintain a friendly and professional atmosphere
