As the Medical Affairs Director of Innovation you will be responsible for leading efforts related to Medical Affairs innovation. You will be a member of a dedicated cross-functional strategic innovation team (including R&D and Marketing), responsible for developing and delivering upon the innovation strategy to drive transformational growth opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

  • You will work closely with external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, regulatory bodies, and policymakers to identify unmet needs relating to collection of biospecimen samples used for medical testing
  • Develop high level strategies and requirements to address the healthcare needs around specimen acquisition and management with the objective of increasing value to healthcare partners and patients
  • You will work closely with HEOR and RWE Medical Affairs teams to support data analyses related to strategy assessment
  • Collaborate closely to relay findings to new product development teams who will work on the solutions to opportunities identified by the Innovation Team
  • Attend medical and healthcare conferences, workshops, and meetings to stay abreast of both medical practice, medical guidance and healthcare trends and best practices
  • Prepares and presents new business opportunities to senior leaders based on detailed unmet medical needs, IP, and technological assessment
  • Collaborates on developing a framework and set of metrics to harmonize how we view, prioritize and approach our innovation hunting grounds and opportunities
  • You will have the opportunity to help shape the trajectory of BD while leaving a legacy at the same time


Education and Experience:

Qualifications
  • Minimum Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as science, nursing, public health. PhD or MD preferred
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and assessing the needs of healthcare providers
  • Understanding of current practice in non-traditional (outside hospitals) health care delivery ecosystem desired
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in medical or biotech industry product development with global experience and demonstration of increasing responsibility
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
  • Proven product development track record. Experience with focus on any special populations (chronic disease, pediatrics, cancer, diabetics) would be advantageous
  • Understanding of global regulatory requirements and guidelines for the In Vitro Device industry
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Strategic thinker with a growth mindset and strong influencing skills
  • Highly self-motivated, very independent and able to work with limited guidance, execution and results-focused leader with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environment and shape the strategic direction of the business
  • Strong action-orientation with ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task to balance diverse needs of the business
  • Ability to make recommendations to senior leaders based on the assessment of the financial opportunity, IP, medical need, associated risks, and potential for revenue generation
  • Creative and results-oriented problem solver
  • An ability to have a consistent, positive, motivating influence on the performance of those individuals with whom they work
  • Travel required (25%)
