The Director, Walmart U.S. Strategy is a critical role responsible for supporting the U.S. Leadership Team on strategic communication and clarity. Responsibilities include (1) leading the Walmart U.S. Board of Directors preparation process and materials creation, supporting presenter preparation, and writing white papers; (2) co-leading the Walmart U.S. goals planning process and communication; and (3) supporting other strategic initiatives.
This individual is responsible for ensuring we communicate our strategy consistently at various levels of complexity. This includes taking a proactive approach to communicate the complex with clarity, tailoring messaging to multiple audiences while driving alignment. It also includes supporting the development and creation of various materials (e.g., white papers and visuals) that tell the story of "now" with simplicity.
You'll sweep us off our feet if you:
- Shape development of executive leadership content for high profile meetings and have experience authoring Board materials (e.g., non-academic white papers).
- Can distill the complex into simple, clear content.
- Work collaboratively with business partners to tell the story on high priority, high impact initiatives using key financial and strategic KPIs, understand the progress of cross-functional initiatives, and can identify strengths and opportunities in our approach.
- Frame and develop complex analyses to drive business case development on key strategic focus areas.
- Are a team player who wants to make an impact at scale.
- Cultivate an environment where your partners, peers, and others respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics.
You'll make an impact by:
- Establishing strategic clarity and communicating the Walmart U.S. Strategy.
- Making connections between dispersed initiatives from the business to ensure synergies, reduce duplication, and improve information flow.
- Organizing the flow of initiatives across leadership team meetings, track actionable follow-ups, and drive accountability to deliver objectives.
- Building strong rapport with stakeholders across the business who you will work with to understand strategic nuances and interdependencies, as well as status.
- Holding business leaders accountable to understanding and delivering on our Walmart U.S. strategy.
- Preparing presentations and other supporting materials for recommendations, participating in business case presentations to executive management.
- Working across Walmart U.S. to identify and create input and output metrics to measure strategy execution and detect anomalies.
- Collaborating with leadership and within the team to plan and analyze business performance by identifying gaps between business goals and corporate objectives.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in finance, business management, communications, strategy, data science, or related area OR 8 years' experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, competitive intelligence, consulting, market research, data analytics, or related field
- MBA or J.D. highly preferred
- 3+ years of experience working on or managing cross-functional teams
- 3+ years of experience of senior leadership decision support
- 4+ years of experience analyzing data and/or financials, and interpreting results
- Experience working in a large, complex, matrixed organization
- Experience in Supply Chain, Retail, Merchandising Planning, and/or Finance
- Experience working in Fortune 100 finance or strategy
- Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines
- Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
- Detail and results-oriented with sense of urgency
- Comfort with ambiguity

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 6 years' experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area OR 8 years' experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area.
2 years' supervisory experience
