Walmart is seeking a Director, Delivery Promise Optimization to join our growing and fast-paced eCommerce Marketplace team focusing on the Delivery Experience for the Seller Fulfilled Business. The Walmart US eCommerce Marketplace team builds products and services that connects sellers across the world to buyers shopping our marketplaces, enabling access to our customers to over 350M+ items, and growing selection. If you are passionate about a role which sits at the intersection of Business, Product, Tech, UX Design and Research Science, have built and scaled the adoption of customer/seller facing 0 to 1 products and businesses, and enjoy a fast-paced role with high visibility and impact as well as regular interactions with Walmart's top executives, then this might be the right opportunity for you! In this role, you will own building and managing highly reliable and scalable products and services which will optimize delivery speed, and cost for our Worldwide Marketplace customers. This role will start with a 1-2 people team and then build a bigger team over a period of time.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Transit Time and Handle Time Model Development and Optimization: You will collaborate across multiple teams including, Marketplace and Retail Business Strategy, Product, Legal, Engineering, Research and Data Science, and other internal partners to lead the thought process, launch, manage and optimize an ML solution that helps Walmart improve the On Time delivery and speed for the Marketplace orders and help build a best-in-class delivery experience that includes both pre and post purchase experience.
  • Business Partnerships: Provides consulting expertise and acts as a subject matter expert to senior functional leadership (e.g., VPs and SVPs); articulates the needs of current and future customers to executive leadership. Reviews and influences business strategies and integrates customer strategies to achieve business objectives. Consults with executive leadership to identify and answer critical questions about customers to drive business decisions.
  • Project Scope: Leads all advanced analytics projects for a strategic business area (i.e. Carrier Provided Transit Times and Sellers' Handle Time), category or prototype across platforms based on deep industry and organizational knowledge. Ensures solution and analytical plans reflect business priorities. The ideal candidate will also be able to apply a data driven problem-solving approach, will be agile and able to apply the right frameworks, operating cadence, and business analysis & acumen to the business and product roadmap. As such, the candidate will be able to identify key risks, dependencies, and work with the requisite teams to put solutions in place that will achieve the product outcomes.
  • Proof of Concept and Prototype: Directs the implementation of production-ready complex algorithms for all projects. Develops the testing and validation methodology and processes. Leads building of production-ready algorithms to cross-functional partners (e.g., software engineering, Product and Category management) to gain buy-in.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Directs analysis of business issues, considering team structures and iteration models needed to develop innovative solutions. Partners with leadership across all analytics functions to define the data analysis strategies based on business priorities. Collaboration: Partners with functional leadership and other cross-functional leaders across the organization (e.g., Categories, Transportation, Last Mile Logistics, Customer Experience, Merchandising, and Business Development) to develop consultative solutions for all projects for a small business area, category or prototype, ensure buy-in for recommendations as necessary and ensure alignment on data analysis strategies. Proactively maintains existing relationships and develops new relationships with external business partners and vendors.
  • People Development: Ensures associates are receiving learning and development opportunities (e.g., training, mentoring) for the good of the associate and Walmart. Coaches team members and provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge and work performance. Mentors less experienced associates and managers. Identifies new and emerging skills needed by Advanced Analytics associates.
  • Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

  • You have deep expertise in 3P Transit Time Management or 3P Seller Handling Time Management and building seller and customer facing 0 to 1 product.

  • Creating business and product strategies - Develop roadmap for key business initiatives and advocate for solutions allowing sellers optimize delivery and pre-purchase experience on Walmart
  • Operating - Negotiate, manage, and drive 3P Seller Fulfilled network to create the best delivery experience.
  • Builder Mindset, Driving end to end ownership - Drive end-end ownership for system solutions for new features working with relevant cross-functional groups including product and engineering teams. Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, supply chain or related area and 8+ years' experience in Technology based product management, business operations, Operations Research, Supply chain management, or related area.
  • Experience designing/building complex supply chain technology solutions and operation metrics of such products and services in an ecommerce environment, preferably in the 3P/Marketplace environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in computer science, management information systems, Operations Research, statistics, industrial engineering, engineering management, business, information systems
  • Deep hand on knowledge of Cluster analysis techniques, simulation, inferential statistics, neural networks, or data mining techniques
  • 10+ years' experience building and leading large cross-functional teams in an e-commerce Technology, Operations and Delivery Experience domain.
