The Department of Emergency Medicine at The Larner College of Medicine (LCOM) at The University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician desiring a career in academic emergency medicine. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Clinical Scholar Pathway will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments.

Our Network Department of Emergency Medicine provides clinical coverage at hospital sites across the University of Vermont Health Network (UVMHN) in Vermont and upstate New York. Collectively, we serve approximately 200,000 patient visits annually, and the Network hospitals serve a catchment of 40,000 square miles and 1.4M people. LCOM students and Emergency Medicine residents train clinically at three of our Network sites with elective rotations at multiple other sites.

Our primary teaching campus is the University of Vermont Medical Center, the only Level 1 trauma center in the greater region. The majority of academic faculty provide clinical coverage at multiple sites in Network, including our rural and critical access sites, underscoring our commitment to high quality rural acute care delivery.

In addition to the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC), our clinical partners include Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH); Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC); Porter Medical Center (PMC); Elizabethtown Community Hospital (ECH); or Elizabethtown Community Hospital-Ticonderoga (ECH-Ti) or Alice Hyde Medical Center (AHMC). Educational responsibilities vary between locations but include direct education and supervision of LCOM medical students, Emergency Medicine residents, and other learners throughout a variety of disciplines and healthcare professions. Our Network-wide department currently supports initiatives and programs in multiple subspecialties including but not limited to emergency medical services, pediatric emergency medicine, critical care, research, ultrasound, global health, wilderness medicine, medical education, simulation, and toxicology. Click here for more information about our Department's missions and programs.

Successful candidates will participate in the academic, educational, and scholarly missions of LCOM and the UVMHN. Applicants must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and eligible for licensure in the states of New York and Vermont. Although all interested candidates are encouraged to apply, strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in the teaching, research, and clinical activities of academic emergency medicine, as well as those who have experience in rural care delivery and/or critical access hospital emergency departments. We welcome applications from candidates interested in either full-time or part-time employment.
