About the Role: Everest Insurance is searching for an Underwriter to join our Energy Casualty team in our Warren, NJ office to support the Power Generation, Utilities and Renewable Energy segment of our industry practice. This is a hybrid position working 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Maintaining and growing a profitable book of new and renewal Energy business, consisting of the following lines of coverage: Workers Compensation, Commercial General Liability, Commercial Auto liability, Excess/Umbrella, Excess Workers Compensation, while adhering to divisional underwriting guidelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining broker relationships throughout the country, with a concentration on power generation and utility casualty business
  • Assisting in development and execution of business strategy necessary to drive submission flow and binding of profitable business.
  • Effectively working with Client Services, Actuarial, Claims, Loss Control, Operations, Finance, Marketing and Distribution, Corporate Underwriting, Premium Audit and Information Technology to develop and implement thoughtful risk selection that supports our strategic objectives and desired financial goals.
  • Develop client tailored casualty insurance programs consisting of guaranteed cost, large deductible and SIR programs.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor capabilities and strategies, as well as the overall insurance marketplace.
  • Participate in peer review and quality control for team(s) as needed.
  • Manage both internal and external relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries.
  • Regularly review and adheres to department processing guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy including recommended changes/enhancements.
  • Review and analyze incoming transactions and related information for completeness accuracy and quality.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in the insurance industry, with knowledge of primary and/or excess casualty insurance.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete work within required time constraints with a high volume of work.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and aptitudes to working within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Commitment to relationship building and employee coaching and development skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building with all business functions.
  • Demonstrates abilities in employee coaching and a positive, customer-oriented approach.
  • Strong analytical skills in dissecting risk and portfolio data.
