Overview: ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Engineer Principal will provide technical leadership and accountability, ensuring the technical adequacy and appropriateness of all engineering activities within their area of discipline responsibility. Additionally, the position will serve as a strong and recognized technical resource for solving problems that exceed the scope of normal expectations. Drawing on extensive experience in solving engineering problems and applying practical solutions within their specific technical discipline, the position offers a broad scope of capability. This position retains primary accountability for compliance with design basis requirements and the proper application of engineering methods in design and analysis.
This full-time position is located in Richland, WA. Pay range: $61.73 - $84.41 Benefits: -

Responsibilities: - Perform highly complex engineering analyses and designs in support of operations, systems, programs, audit inspections, and assessments requiring skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Work with minimal supervision. Serve as an advisor providing advice and counsel on assignments concerned with specialized or unique engineering requirements. Solutions provided involve unconventional or innovative program solving techniques. Provide technical leadership and training on highly complex or extended projects.
- Tasks typically involve highly complex problem-solving techniques and require advanced application of practices and methodologies. Provide leadership of small groups to resolve complex issues. Available guidance generally does not exist to fit problems encountered and advanced technological skills are required to provide solutions.
- Provide technical direction and leadership routinely to other engineers; serve as a mentor. Provide training to others.
- Identify need and initiate development of new policies, programs, plans, and procedures to meet strategic objectives.
- Assure compliance with regulatory and industry guidance. Provide interpretation of industry guidance for application.
- Identify potential problems in design, quality, or operation and initiate corrective action in accordance with plant Condition Report (CR) process.
Requirements: - Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and eight years of engineering experience, plus one diverse assignment: OR a high school diploma or GED and PE license obtained by accredited examination plus eight years of engineering experience and one diverse assignment.
- Requires knowledge of discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories, and methods to identify and solve the highest complex problems and perform sophisticated analyses. Advanced technical knowledge of related disciplines is required.

- Unescorted Access (Green badge 1 or 2)
- Depending on the individual's basis for action in the Personal Access Database System (PADS), the individual may not need all the requirements listed below to be certified for Unescorted Access (UA) also known at the organization as a green badge. A Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) is mandatory for all applicants regardless of their basis for action in PADS. The PHQ requires the applicant to answer all the information truthfully and its very important the applicant reads the instructions for each section carefully before signing their electronic signature.
- Unescorted Access may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Background investigation review after Access Authorization receives the completed electronic PHQ.
- Valid (non-expired) state issued driver's license / identification card or U.S Passport.
- Fitness for Duty drug and alcohol screening.
- Criminal history submittal (fingerprints) to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and returned results reviewed against the individuals completed PHQ.
- Psychological evaluation/review, which may include a clinical interview.
- Credit report submittal/review against the individuals completed PHQ.
- Computer based training to include other required training as applicable to the Work.
- Subject to a five-year reinvestigation to include:
- Updated PHQ
- Updated criminal history (fingerprint) submittal/review
- Updated credit report submittal/review
- Critical Group Inclusion
- Critical Group - is designated for individuals that may have knowledge of defensive strategies and design and/or implementation of the Plants defensive strategy.
- The Manager or Supervisor may select Critical Group Inclusion on the individuals Access Authorization request.
- Critical Group Inclusion requires the above listed requirements for Unescorted Access (Green badge) with the following additional components:
- Mandatory clinical interview scheduled after the psychological testing.
- Subject to a three-year reinvestigation to include:
- Updated PHQ
- Updated fingerprint submittal/review
- Updated credit report submittal/review
- Psychological evaluation/review and mandatory interview
- Two diverse assignments are preferred.
- SRO or Plant Certification is desirable.
- PE license is preferred.
- Experience with Medium Voltage switchgear, 4kV electrical bus structures, advanced relay and protection is desired. Experience in Nuclear design process is a plus.
- Previous experience with the Standard Design Process and Digital Design Process desired.
- Applicant must meet physical capability requirements:
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (rarely 0-5%)
- Climb ladders and scaffolding as necessary (occasionally up to 10%)
- Wear hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection when required.
- Dawn Radiation Protective Clothing when required.
- Work alternate shifts during outages when needed.
- Well organized and able to recognize and manage priorities.
- Effective communication skills are required to relate to both highly analytical and nonscientific backgrounds.
- Ability to provide strong technical guidance, leadership, and technical training to other technical employees.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Demonstrate core values: Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability, Mutual respect and trust through open, honest communication.
- Ability to represent Engineering in industry working groups and other discipline related activities.
- Act as Responsible Engineer over engineering changes prepared by self and those performed by other architectural engineers in the Design Engineering Department.
