Position Title:
Floor Technician Assistant
Position Summary:This position is responsible for assisting current floor technicians with the overall cleanliness and upkeep of their assigned Residence Hall areas. The position will require ongoing training on floor and carpet care, floor equipment and best practices in floor maintenance to gain the knowledge and experience needed to move into a full-time floor technician. Upon completion of one year of successful regular full-time employment and the recommendation of the supervisor of this position is eligible to move to the regular Floor Technician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :Must have a high school diploma or GED or provide proof of current enrollment in an accredited GED Program, which must be completed within one (1) year of employment.
Must be able to interact in a diverse community and able to adapt to changing situations.
Good oral and written communication skills required, with the ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write correspondence such as letters and internal e-mail communications. Ability to speak effectively when interacting with the Spelman community.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to utilize e-mail systems such as Lotus Notes/Outlook.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) are preferred, with the ability to create such things as general correspondence, equipment status reports, and cleaning supply requests.
Valid Georgia Driver's License required.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: talk, hear, walk and stand for prolonged periods, use hands to handle operate cleaning equipment, computer and office supplies and equipment. The employee is frequently required to: reach with hands and arms, stoop or climb, smell, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to: sit and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic chemicals and fumes as well as to wet or humid conditions inside the buildings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work near moving mechanical parts with some risk to shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
