Job Description
We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Platform Services Manager to oversee and maintain the critical IT infrastructure that supports the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's (PBGC) mission. The PBGC ensures the retirement income security of over 33 million private-sector workers by managing defined benefit pension plans. As the manager, you will be responsible for ensuring reliable, secure, and highly available IT infrastructure services to PBGC's 2,500 users, including on-premise and cloud-based systems. You will lead a team supporting both operational maintenance and modernization efforts, ensuring smooth IT operations and resilience in a hybrid work environment. Your role will be critical in maintaining service continuity, security, and infrastructure optimization.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
* Ensure IT infrastructure components are stable, reliable, secure, and optimally performing to support PBGC's mission.
* Administer database environments, ensuring proper installation, configuration, and maintenance of database schemas, tables, roles, and more.
* Manage server administration and support tasks, ensuring seamless operations of PBGC's infrastructure.
* Provide enterprise services support, ensuring all systems and tools function efficiently across the organization.
* Oversee storage and backup operations, performing nightly differential and weekly full backups and managing the SAN infrastructure.
* Administer and support web and application middleware to guarantee the availability of mission-critical systems.
* Implement robust disaster recovery measures and maintain contingency plans for organizational resilience.
* Conduct periodic reviews of software and hardware, implementing updates, and validating them in controlled environments before deployment.
* Perform monitoring and performance analysis of systems and databases to predict and manage capacity and optimize resources.
* Manage and troubleshoot PBGC's physical and virtual servers and related services.
* Coordinate the installation and maintenance of infrastructure and business application software, including troubleshooting and reinstalling as necessary.
* Lead efforts to maintain a functional and optimized Physical Access Control and Surveillance System (PACSS).
Education & Experience
* B.S. in a relevant IT discipline (desired)
* 10+ years of relevant experience managing IT infrastructure in a complex organization (desired)
Certifications
* ITIL v4 (Required)
* DevSecOps Foundations (Required to be obtained upon hire.)
* At least one relevant advanced certification
