Our client is seeking a Junior Research Systems Administrator in Chapel Hill, NC.
Role Description
The primary purpose of the Junior Research Systems Administrator is to support the Bioinformatics Group's research computational infrastructure as a Linux and Windows servers administrator, enterprise data storage administrator, web server administrator. It is an absolute requirement that the position performs all of its duties in an IT security-aware fashion. This includes among others regular updates of storage system, virtualization system, SLURM cluster system, IT support ticketing system, Linux and Windows operating system, system backup, protecting research data and respecting privacy.
Although this is not a designated "on-call" role, the Junior Research Systems Administrator must be available to address critical issues outside of regular working hours when necessary. The position also entails triaging support tickets and providing timely assistance to users.
Skills & Requirements
• Master's degree with 1 year of cumulative IT work experience, or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative IT work experience, or A combination of relevant education
• Enterprise virtualization system administration
• Linux Server administration
• Web server administration
• Windows server administration in an Active Directory domain
• Enterprise data storage system administration
• Knowledge of cloud computing and storage administration
• Knowledge of commodity server class hardware
• Knowledge of computing cluster system administration
• Knowledge of container system administration
