Position Purpose:

Development and support of the divisional manufacturing processes and equipment to enable safe, high-quality, cost-effective manufacturing of our products.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, meet and support all safety requirements across the division
  • CNC Machine tooling and process design
  • Machining fixture design
  • PLC programming and system design
  • Material handling cells
  • Plant layouts / material flow
  • Equipment manuals and work instructions
• Manage the manufacturing engineering design process (concept, design, drawing creation, build, document), installation, MPAP, and long-term technical support of the manufacturing processes while meeting quality, capability, cost and time targets.

• Develop and implement capital or expense projects to include researching new and established manufacturing technologies, planning the capital and time needed to implement the technology, writing CER (Capital Expenditure Request) proposals to be reviewed.

• Procuring equipment

• Equipment and process installation in the manufacturing plants

• Meeting cost and time targets.

• Participate in product and process design reviews.

• Help to improve the quality of the product while lowering the cost to produce it.

• Provide technical assistance to the division manufacturing and maintenance functions to solve chronic or complex problems.

• Develop and implement control systems projects for tooling and equipment to achieve various project objectives while meeting cost and time targets.

• Support standardization initiatives by specifying and purchasing similar controls equipment, components and participate in standards development.

• Travel required 20%-40%

Education and Training

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical area is required (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering preferred)

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience required.

• PLC programming required.

• Auto CAD experience required.

• 3D modeling experience is required. PTC Creo III preferred.

• Hands-on experience in tooling & fixturing methods is required.

• Experience in procurement of manufacturing systems and equipment required.

• Professional experience in manufacturing engineering in a metal working and machining environment is desirable.

• Formal training in robotic systems and other automated systems is desirable (Fanuc preferred)

• Candidate must demonstrate an ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and GD&T.

• Production experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Frequent sitting, work at a computer for extended periods of time

• Must be willing to travel to Hendrickson manufacturing facilities on an as-needed basis

• Must be able to lead the physical assembly of his/her own mechanical/electrical machine designs, making adjustments as needed.

Environmental Conditions

• Work Environment: Manufacturing/Office.

• Lighting: Adequate.

• Temperature: Non-Temperature Controlled in manufacturing. Humidity, Heat, Cold are factors during the year. AC/Heat controlled in office.
