Job Title:Marketing and Communications Specialist 2Department:Engineering | Professional and Distance Education Programs

Under the direction of the College of Engineering's Director of Professional & Distance Education Programs (PDEP), the marketing specialist leads the planning, implementation, and coordination of marketing efforts for non-credit, professional programs and courses and online master's degrees and certificates; collaborates with internal and external stakeholders/partners (staff, faculty, students, industry contacts) on marketing projects and initiatives; maintains program website and marketing budget; handles maintenance and set up of new products on Nelnet (registration and payment system); selects promotional products for programs/courses; processes program purchases and expenses in Workday; leads, schedules, and participates in meetings and events; provides back-up support for program coordinators with events and other initiatives; prepares reports and creates meeting agendas related to program marketing; creates, administers, and maintains data and information systems; collaborates with program coordinators, director, and assistant director on various projects ensuring deadlines are met.


Essential Duties
80% - Manages marketing strategy and implementation including email, print, social media, and advertising initiatives; maintains program website and Nelnet; manages student and leads database via Access, utilizes Salesforce, Constant Contact, Eventbrite, and other applicable platforms to support marketing efforts; creates meeting agendas; schedules and attends meetings and events as assigned; prepares reports to share at college- and university-level if requested; manages partnership with College of Engineering Marketing, industry partners, and Ohio State Online (OSO);


20% - Provides support and back-up to director, assistant director, and program coordinators as needed; collaborates with program coordinators on projects related to for-credit and non-credit program/course marketing; processes program purchases and expenses; assists with program budgets; assists with events to support and promote for-credit and non-credit courses; other duties as assigned.


Required:Bachelor's level degree in communications, public relations, marketing or similar field or equivalent

Required Experience: At least 2 years of experience in program planning and administration; demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and communications skills and ability to work collaboratively with management, faculty, and outside partners; must be detail oriented; experience with Microsoft Office, and in using the Web for research and data collection.


Desired Experience: 2-4 years of experience in strategic marketing and communications within higher education; working with adult learners or continuing education; Ohio State University (OSU) Student Information System (SIS) and Workday experience; experience working on websites; experience working with social media to promote educational programs/courses.
