Major/Essential Functions
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Media Relations team serves as both a campus-based news bureau and TTUHSC's most direct connection to the external news media and the diversity of audiences that today's news media serves. On a daily basis, our team works with a network of journalists from news organizations to highlight compelling stories from campus and to respond to media queries for information or perspective on topics and issues related to TTUHSC. Currently, our team produces video media packages, a weekly podcast, media pitches and organizes press conferences.

- Contributes to the creation of content for potential university news stories
- Contributes ideas regarding TTUHSC to the media
- Help to create daily content for potential university news stories
- Contributes to the production of video media packages, weekly podcast, media pitches and organization of press conferences
- Contributes ideas regarding TTUHSC stories to media
- Writes news releases, media advisories, media briefs and other collateral material for reporters to raise the visibility of the university
- Helps to compile media reports for TTUHSC and its agencies to keep an active record of mentions
throughout television, radio and online news source
- Helps to interview experts including researchers, faculty, students and experts for news articles and coverage
- Contributes to the building of potential media lists for pitches
- Produce Multimedia Releases for news media pitches
- Demonstrate professionalism to contact and/or respond to news media requests and manages those interactions
