Cannon Falls Energy Center

O&M Technician

The O&M Technician provides the organization with a knowledgeable, multi-skilled, troubleshooting expert who operates and maintains a 357MW simple cycle power station. This position requires highly flexible individuals that work various shift schedules in a Team environment performing various team support functions.

  • The O&M Technician will be a team player performing operations, maintenance and technical support to achieve safe, cost effective operation and maintenance of the Cannon Falls Energy Center.
  • Operate the facility during start-up, shutdown, normal and emergency conditions in accordance with operating procedures and instructions to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
  • Maintain and trouble-shoot mechanical, electrical and or control systems in a power generation facility.
  • Perform/direct housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean safe work environment and professional appearance.
  • This is a position that requires a strong mechanical background. The candidate should be familiar with the various types of pumps, compressors, closed cooling water systems, water chemistry, and flow control devices such as manual and automatic valves. In addition, the candidate should be versed with understanding piping distribution systems, types of metals and materials used.
  • Must be able to read and understand schematic blueprints and technical documents.
  • Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures.
  • The O&M Technician will work various shifts and be subject to weekends, holidays, scheduled, and unscheduled overtime.
  • Uses computerized maintenance management system to initiate work requests for material deficiencies noted during shift operations.
  • Trains and develops other employees.
  • Performs duties such as writing procedures, updating shift schedules, etc.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of directly related operations, mechanical troubleshooting and repair in a power generation facility or minimum two years of directly related operations, mechanical troubleshooting and repair maintaining large industrial equipment.
  • Basic electrical and instrumentation experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle.
  • Ability to work in a power plant that includes climbing and walking long distances.
  • Education in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance or instrument and controls.
  • GE Frame 7FA experience a plus but not required.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future
