Position Summary
Operates various production equipment requiring average mechanical aptitude and skill in accordance with established operating procedures and safety precautions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Operates complex production equipment according to defined procedures. Typically involves set-up, monitoring, and control of manufacturing equipment.
• Sets up printers with correct lot number and expiration date.
• Sets up and monitors control parameters for manufacturing equipment.
• Records parameters in work order documents.
• Loads foil and film rolls on manufacturing equipment.
• Assist Specialist in line clearance.
• Conducts product sampling.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, clean work environment. Adheres to area JSA plan and ergonomic recommendations.
• Reports all accidents or near misses immediately to area specialist and/or supervisor, and any observed unsafe acts.
• Meets established production, quality, customer service, and safety and compliance standards.
• Prepares, reviews, and confirms accuracy of official plant documentation (batch records, logbooks, production reports, etc.).
• Notifies mechanic or supervisor immediately in the event of a mechanical or electrical malfunction.
• Cleans machine and performs line clearances per SOPs and guidelines.
• Adheres to cGMP guidelines, SOPs, and plant policies/rules.
• Must be able to determine whether to shut down the equipment until a supervisor can be contacted or if it can be fixed.
• Must be able to determine if the quality of the product is acceptable by the standards given in the batch record and standard operating procedures.
• Assist the Supervisor and Specialist in leading the team when running the equipment (Extrusion).
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge & Skills
• Ability to read and write.
• Average mechanical aptitude and skills.
• Possess knowledge of related production operations.
• Requires the successful completion of a 1-week off-line training program plus 2 weeks on the job training.
• Must be able to pass GMP and area certifications.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift license, which will require ability to complete and pass a forklift physical, written test, and operate a forklift safely.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six months production operator experience.
• Extrusion Dept.: Due to the technical nature of the extrusion blending/extrusion slitting area, previous experience in one of the Extrusion Departments is required.
Work Environment
• Must wear hearing protection, safety shoes, prescription glasses (if prescribed), safety glasses and any/all personal protective equipment required to perform jobs in areas.
• Must be able to move film or resin and tip rolls of film on sides and position for pick-up by roll lift or pallet jack. (250 lbs. assisted).
• Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
