Job Description
As a Physical Therapist II (Inpatient Acute Rehab) you will perform advanced physical therapy services, including direct patient evaluations and treatments, and non-direct patient care activities. Demonstrate high clinical competency and develop expertise in at least one clinical area under general supervision, including:

Responsibilities:

  • Resource & Guidance: Serve as a resource on advanced physical therapy theory and practice. Guide staff on standard and complex assessments.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist in training staff and students. Mentor non-rehab staff on rehab roles and techniques.
  • Team Management: Manage team operations in the absence of the Senior Physical Therapist.
Patient Care:
  • Service Provision: Provide physical therapy services to in-patients and out-patients with functional limitations.
  • Evaluations & Goals: Perform comprehensive evaluations, establish treatment goals, and plan appropriate treatments.
  • Treatment & Education: Treat patients individually or in groups, teach home care skills, and recommend discharge plans.
  • Effectiveness Analysis: Analyze treatment effectiveness and adjust plans as needed.
Documentation:
  • Record Keeping: Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress, and billing codes according to departmental procedures.
Quality Assurance & Training:
  • Quality Activities: Participate in quality assurance activities and suggest improvements.
  • In-Service Training: Engage in and present in-service training programs. Attend continuing education programs to maintain licensure.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree plus five years of physical therapist experience, or Master's Degree, or Doctorate of PT.
  • Current Maryland physical therapist licensure.
  • Two years of full-time Acute Rehab Physical Therapist experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Expertise in physical therapy across various specialties (orthopedics, pediatrics, neurology, etc.).
  • Familiarity with UMMC Rehabilitation Unit equipment.
  • Advanced skills in at least one clinical area.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to provide patient-specific care based on growth and development principles.
