Job Description:
The Wellesley College physics department invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work with Professor James Battat on particle detector development. The successful candidate would help lead the effort to design novel electronics for liquid argon detectors within the Q-Pix consortium.
Wellesley is a liberal arts college with an emphasis on undergraduate education and research mentorship. The postdoc position carries no teaching responsibilities, but research mentorship of Wellesley students is expected.
Wellesley collaborates closely with the high-energy physics group at the University of Texas, Arlington (UTA). A joint affiliation with UTA is possible and would provide access to collaboration/publication membership in multiple ongoing neutrino detection experiments (SBND, ICARUS, MicroBooNE), as well as opportunities to collaborate with grad students, postdocs and faculty members in the UTA group.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ PhD in physics or an adjacent field at the time of appointment; or equivalent experience (e.g. graduate degree in electrical engineering).
Desirable Qualifications:
+ Experience with one or more of: pixelated detectors, cryogenic systems (especially liquid argon time projection chambers), electronics design and testing (including analog/digital/embedded systems), computational simulation tools (e.g. Geant4).
