In order to ensure your application is complete, you must complete the following:A postdoctoral research associate opportunity is available to join the controlled environment plant physiology and technology lab (Kubota lab) at the Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) to conduct research essential to produce high quality flavorful strawberry fruits under controlled environment. This new collaborative research opportunity with scientists in Flavor Research and Education Center (FREC) and horticulture genetics/genomics team at the Ohio State University as well as USDA ARS would allow us to evaluate various genotypes of strawberry plants under controlled environments and optimize the growing conditions to achieve the outstanding flavor profile. Research will be conducted mainly in growth chambers. The successful candidate must have a doctorate degree in horticulture, plant sciences, crop sciences, agronomy, horticultural engineering, or related field of study. Good understanding on whole plant physiology specifically whole plant responses to environmental factors is required. Experiences in working on hydroponic crop production, soilless substrate culture, environmental instrumentation (sensors, dataloggers, and systems), leaf gas exchange measurements, and postharvest technology are desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to work in a collaborative team are required.This position will be hired through the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, the Ohio State University.
