Job Summary
The Product Safety Compliance Engineer will be located within the Vertiv Corporation's Delaware, Ohio location in the Columbus OH area. The responsibilities of this position will involve product safety compliance activities for the AC Power "LOB" line of business products. These activities include, "NPD" New Product Development, "ETO" Engineering to Order as it pertains to safety compliance. In addition, this position will also be responsible for sustaining product safety conformance for legacy products, investigation, and validation testing. This candidate must also provide guidance on relevant NEC, UL, IEC safety testing standards requirements preceding the launch of new products. This knowledge and guidance shall ensure that the product certification investigation has sufficient breadth, depth, and agency coverage. Furthermore, this position shall be able to guide Vertiv design engineering department on relevant aspect of product design and its minimum requires to satisfy the requirements that are published by the NFPA, UL, IEC. In this role you may be asked to participate (directly or indirectly) on standards and regulatory committees to ensure the AC Power Business is represented.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current NRTL (UL, ETL, CSA, etc.) product certification approvals.
  • Acquire NRTL certification on new products.
  • Compile CE compliance documentation for safety and EMC directives.
  • Contract and coordinate with outside laboratories for safety and EMC compliance testing.
  • Develop and review and approve relevant test plans.
  • Develop and review and approve final test reports.
  • Signoff on product release readiness thorough the NPD process.
  • Keeping up-to-date technically on standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance to the design engineering or other teams regarding regulatory / compliance requirements.
  • When asked, participate directly and/or indirectly on standards and regulatory committees so make certain that the AC Power Business objectives are represented.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience working in product safety, EMC, or Quality desired.
  • Knowledge of IEC/UL product safety standards (Preferred one or more of the following: UL-1800S, UL-1778, UL/IEC 62368, UL-1973, IEC-62310, IEC-62040, IEC-62477).
  • Familiarity with laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, Hi-Pot, touch current meter, power sources, etc.
  • (Preferred) Familiarity with ISO 17025 Laboratory Test Procedures.
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of EN55022, EN55024, and/or other EMC standards.
  • Excellent communications skills, in both verbal and written formats.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills.
