Production Supervisor - Night shift

Controlling the quality, quantity, most aspects of the production processes, and employees in assigned departments to meet customer's demands.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.

  • Directly oversees the activities of production personnel engaged in all facets of the manufacturing function and maintains positive labor relations by effective human relations techniques.
  • Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.
  • Responsible for performance feedback and leadership of all direct reports including mentoring, coaching, counseling, and corrective action when situations dictate.
  • Maintain the strict production process control required.
  • Responsible for providing and enforcing conditions that ensure the health, safety, and security of the employees.
  • Training and evaluating personnel within their assigned departments.
  • Coordinate and communicate with associated departments and support personnel to assure efficient utilization of materials, time, and labor.
  • Accountable in maintaining budget responsibilities including direct and indirect labor.
  • Minimize scrap and recycle in assigned work area.
  • Participate in meetings to solve problems and facilitate communication.
  • Monitor machine and individual performance.
  • Consistently enforce all company policies and procedures by maintaining GMP / Housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team members.
  • Help develop, update, and maintain procedures and documentation for all Quality Systems, including Organic Production methods and paperwork. Pest control liaison.
  • Interacting and liaising with the other manufacturing teams and Logistics to prioritize backorders.
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the companies Quality policy, Quality System & the appropriate regulations for the area.
  • Administration duties that include Time and Attendance system, Holiday planning, Rework review, Back Order review, Preventative maintenance planning, etc.
  • Communicate key information to the organization through the daily "shift to shift" notes.
  • Report weekly and monthly on scrap costs, sorting costs and rework costs for each area of responsibility.
  • Prepare all accident reports for identification of root cause and corrective action.
  • Assure all direct reports are aware of their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responsibilities and hold all direct reports accountable.
  • Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized and verify individual usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all the work team.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing all daily work activities.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE

  • Five to seven year's experience as a manufacturing supervisor or a combination of degree and experience.

EDUCATION

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree required

SKILLS

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast past environment.
  • Ability to mentor and teach the team effective problem solving methods.
  • Experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Computer literacy and proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience in quality and environmental measurables.
  • Able to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations
  • Duties include but are not limited to stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and hazardous materials

POSITION IN ORGANIZATION

  • Reports to: Assistant Plant Manager
  • Directly Supervises: Hourly production workers and housekeeping
  • Indirectly Supervises: Maintenance

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Interfaces on a frequent basis with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Warehouse, and HR. Also interfaces on an as needed basis with Supply Chain, Information Technologies, and Accounting
  • External: Material Vendors, Equipment Reps., and auditors as needed
