Western New England University invites nominations and applications for the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, to start in the Fall of 2025. The University seeks an innovative and visionary leader with the desire and ability to lead the department into the future, to catalyze innovations in teaching and curricula at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to promote growth of sponsored research and graduate education. The candidate will work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies to develop new partnerships and professional relationships.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, evidence of leadership and strong academic skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a record of excellent professional and scholarly achievements commensurate with appointment as a tenured professor. Candidates having expertise in any area of Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply. A strong record of research and the ability to mentor and guide the funded research efforts of the department is desired.

Western New England University has a vibrant undergraduate mechanical engineering program that emphasizes industrially relevant research and design, as well as active Master of Science and Ph.D. programs. The ME department prides itself on delivering high-quality engineering education while providing strong mentorship to students. The ME department maintains strong relationships with regional and national industries and corporations.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Evidence of leadership and strong academic skills

  • A strong record of research and the ability to mentor and guide the funded research efforts of the department is desired
