CobbFendley is seeking an experienced Project Engineer in our Lacey, Washington Office.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include the following.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (EAC/ABET)required.
  • Five to ten years of involvement in Municipal Design /Utility Design / Utility Coordination, including close out of client deliverables.
  • Experience with Utility and/or Civil design and/or Utility Coordination Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer’s License required.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating between field and office staff.
  • Ability to coordinate with staff in other states and offices
  • Research experience with as-built record drawings from various utilities as required for use in project designs preferred.
  • Familiarity with design software, such as Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation Bentley preferred.
  • Capable of working on project deliverables and construction plan sets with minimal direction.
  • Experience in the Olympia, Washington area and on WSDOT-related projects is considered a plus.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations and design.

Essential Functions:
  • Establish contact with the utility companies and attend utility coordination meetings.
  • Prepare Utility design plans per specs and regulations of Utility Owner/City/State
  • Attend meetings with individual utility companies and on-site field visits.
  • Work with major utility companies, various pipeline companies, as well as state agencies and municipalities.
  • Support CobbFendley Project Managers and Engineers with engineering design or coordination tasks for various projects.
  • Apply technical expertise and be able to work with a project team on conventional and unconventional projects.
  • Perform field work and other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Office work factors could include:
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
  • Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
  • Communication with other employees and clients.
  • Field work factors could include:
  • Physical mobility in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other field assignments.
  • Physical mobility including but not limited to hand-eye coordination, steadiness, upper/low body strength, control precision, stamina, multilimbed coordination, static strength, manual dexterity, oral comprehension and expression, and depth perception.
  • Alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high volume average daily traffic.
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull/drag, and balance equipment & supplies (up to 50 pounds) in remote, rural, or urban surroundings.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and walk long distances.
  • Walking long distances (3+ miles) and climbing on uneven surfaces.
  • Climbing in and out of a vehicle multiple times a day and driving for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders while maintaining three points of contact.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility within the warehouse (between floors and workstations), high-traffic areas, and walk surfaces.
  • Repeated motions (e.g., reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling/crawling, squatting, twisting, climbing, head tilting and handling).
  • Communication with other employees and clients.
  • Work in remote locations at project sites across the U.S.

Environmental Factors:
  • Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for fieldwork or observations will be required.
  • Job site observations factors could include:
  • Walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
  • Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
  • Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).
  • Field work factors could include:
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments (approximately 80% of duties to be performed outdoors in the field and 20% are performed indoors in the office/warehouse).
  • Ability to withstand extreme weather conditions (i.e., hot and freezing temperatures).
  • Use of electric power tools, cutting tools and other equipment.
  • Driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers (if applicable).
  • Potential watercraft use.
  • Exposure to noise and vibrations.
  • Exposure to including but not limited to poison ivy, sumac, cedar, pollen, dust, dirt, mud, common air quality pollution, etc.
  • Enter and work in confined spaces.
  • Exposure to construction and traffic work zones.
  • Extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
Pay: $40.50 to $55.50 per hour:

Starting pay will be determined at the time of offer based on the experience, education,andtraining of the successful candidate.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST/local time zone.

This position may include the need for overtime hours.
