Nordson Industrial Coating Systems (ICS) designs equipment our global customers rely on for the precise application and curing of liquid paint, powder finishes, container barrier coatings and ambient temperature adhesives and sealants. Production lines work smarter with custom engineered robotic solutions from Nordson Industrial Coating Systems.

Job Summary

The Project Engineer, Capital Equipment is responsible for applications engineering, which includes designing, defining, implementing system requirements, analyzing, and/or testing company products to create and develop system solutions based on customer requirements. The position will conduct feasibility tests and work on process development projects to meet customer specifications and/or requirements. She/he will be responsible for development of bill of materials, drawing of system diagrams, overseeing the design, and managing system orders from quote to installation. This position works on problems of a diverse scope and contributes to moderately complex aspects and issue resolution of projects. This Project Engineer, Capital Equipment works collaboratively and locally represents the Project Engineer, Capital Equipment team at own site. He/She will liaise for the larger Project Engineer, Capital Equipment organization when site specific work needs to be completed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Customers to complete Project Definition and scope of work.
  • Drive Nordson standard system solutions throughout by leveraging the success of proven solutions.
  • Support Sales/Customer Reviews.
  • Support of New System Quotes that clearly defines the deliverables to customer that will meet their applications requirements.
  • Utilize established standard processes.
  • Timely Communication to Customers.
  • Support the development of Complete and Accurate System Documentation.
  • Embrace and follow the standard work practices developed for application engineering.
  • Perform the engineering required to deliver an engineered system that meets and or exceeds the application requirements.
  • Applying Basic Engineering Principles-Using System Problem Solving Methods
  • Developing New Solutions/Applications
  • On or off-site pre-installation meetings and installation work as needed.
  • Complete ownership of a project, performing the previously described functions to meet customer timing and performance requirements to ensure System Sign off. This may include overtime and travel as required.
  • Lead or participate in process and margin improvement events for System Solutions.
  • Locally represents the Application Engineering team at own site.
  • Liaise for the larger Application Engineering organization when site specific work needs to be completed.
  • Acts as liaison for regional programs and initiatives of the larger Planning organization
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires a BS Engineering degree with 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • In the absence of a degree, 7 years of equivalent relative experience will be considered.
  • Requires the use of disciplined engineering principles and practices.


Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Project management experience, PMP is a plus.
  • Excellent Time Management
  • Product and process development.
  • Risk management.
  • Root Cause analysis.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication.
  • The ability to work on problems of moderate scope where advanced statistics is required.
  • Must be able to travel to customer sites domestic and international.
  • Fluid delivery system experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop an understanding and practice of Nordson values and competencies.
