JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for providing technical support regarding the chemistry of products, adherence to quality specifications, and compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental rules, and regulations.
The Quality Control Chemist will provide daily production support including testing, adjusting and disposition of raw materials, products, and packaging. This role works closely with Quality Assurance, Plant Management, Production Teams and EHS to ensure overall quality and the safety of products produced and distributed.
Core Schedule
05:00am - 01:30pm (plus overtime)
Monday - Friday
Mandatory Saturdays (if business dictates)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Employs safe work habits and complies with all applicable safety requirements
- Provides technical support with regards to waste minimization, environmental compliance, and timely disposition of returns, discrepant product, and materials
- Utilize SPC methods in data collection, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive action effectiveness and cost saving/avoidance analysis
- Provide daily production support including testing, adjusting and disposition of raw materials, products, and packaging.
- Works closely with R&D, plant management, production teams and EHS to ensure overall quality and safety of products produced and distributed by the plant
- Responding to daily employee relations issues, and contributing to the resolution of associate concerns, to help promote a harmonious work environment
- Maintaining good housekeeping processes
- Fostering a positive work environment
- Support production growth efforts in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Any other responsibilities delegated by the Quality Control Manager
- Regular and sustained attendance
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 -Years of wet chemistry testing experience
- Experience with statistical process control and data analysis
- Strong problem-solving abilities specifically in technical matters
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel at multiple locations
- Must have the ability to take a leadership role in all quality related matters.
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience working independently and, in a group,/team setting
- Able to prioritize and organize the daily workload to meet deadlines
- Experience testing chemical products and samples
- Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement efforts and corrective actions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate well with plant employees, vendors, customers, and senior leaders.
- Proficient with business software platforms
- Working knowledge of ISO, OSHA, and EPA regulations
- Experience with warehouse management software
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dynamics [D365]
- A professional and positive attitude
- Able to lift 25 lbs.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
EDUCATION REQUREMENTSBachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science
OTHER INFORMATION Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat (non-weather) and loud noise levels.
