Purpose of the Position:

This position will support the effective coordination of a dynamic recruitment program by attracting and hiring well-qualified candidates who will demonstrate excellent effort, achievement, and service and support, while embracing Christopher Newport University community values and transforming the lives of students. This position will assist the Office of Human Resources in offering quality customer service for a variety of HR programs. Coordinates recruitment and employment activities to include job postings, the selection process, reviewing and developing interview questions, the background check process, and new employee onboarding to include supporting the E-Verify system. It will also uphold Federal, State and agency hiring laws, policy and practices to ensure the hiring process is fair and equitable.

  • Considerable knowledge and skills of the relationships and interactions pertaining to human resource processes and principles.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience
:
  • Data entry experience to include databases and spreadsheets.
Additional Consideration(s):

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • PHR/ SPHR certification.

Experience:
  • Prior experience in Human Resources or Recruitment.
  • Experience facilitating presentations and/or trainings.
  • Previous experience working in a college or university setting.
  • Recruitment experience with a Commonwealth of Virginia agency.
  • Experience with onboarding/payroll paperwork such as I-9, tax forms, etc.
  • Experience using applicant tracking software.
Salary Information:

Starting at $52,000, Commensurate with Education and Experience
