We are looking for a Scientist, Formulations - Research & Development who will join our team.
The Process & Formulations Scientist will support product development from bench-top experiments to commercial launch with minimal oversight. They will play a key role in innovating conventional and organic, fertilizers and pesticides, in liquid, gel, and solid technologies for consumer indoor and outdoor lawn and garden care products. Responsibilities include discovering new technologies, developing new products and processes, improving existing formulations, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. The Scientist will align technologies with consumer and business needs, contributing to our strategy by providing expertise as a project champion and thought leader. This role involves collaboration with Packaging Development, Biology, Marketing, Sourcing, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams.
In this role you will:
- Hands on development and verification of new formulations at lab, pilot, and manufacturing scales in accordance with all applicable compliance requirements (e.g. FIFRA, OMRI). Create, route, review necessary specifications
-Document, analyze, and report data to cross-functional teams, peers, and leadership making recommendations on path forward.
-Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure alignment on project goals and maximize efficient use of resources versus milestones and commercialization schedules.
-Provide technical support to operations, quality, and contract manufacturing for new or current formulations
- Coaches and develops the technical skills of peers or junior associates. Assists with identifying career development opportunities and developing a succession plan.
What you'll need to be successful:
-Masters Degree, Chemistry, Engineering, Other related scientific field considered
-2-4 years of experience preferred

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $75,000.00 - $88,200.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
