Summary:
This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work remotely. However, candidates must be able to work on site during audits and other key events as needed.
The Senior Accountant encompasses advanced accounting responsibilities, leadership, and strategic financial analysis to support financial operations and decision-making. This role involves reviewing and approving journal entries, posting complex entries, and overseeing the Month End Close process and analysis. The role also determines monthly accruals, ensures accurate and timely reporting, and maintains general ledger accounts. Additionally, it includes auditing financial software and systems for compliance and internal control, leading financial audits and regulatory reporting, and analyzing financial information such as forecasting and projections. The role also entails leading and participating in specialized projects, preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements and operational reports, and performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains the chart of accounts for Altru and Affiliates, including creating new GL departments and subaccounts, setting up new corporations, and updating financial statement. Requires knowledge of EHR and ERP systems.
- Prepares journal entries and approves accounting staff's journal entries with supporting schedules.
- Presents monthly operational results with leadership and explain variances from budget. Conduct analysis and provide insight to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for financial improvement.
- Initiates and evaluates month-end general ledger close process for Altru and Affiliates. Reconciles general ledger accounts with subsidiary ledgers and reports monthly.
- Prepares financial statements, presentations, and reports as requested by leadership, bondholders, and external auditing firms. Reviews elimination entries and verifies the accuracy and timeliness of consolidated financial statements.
- Monitors development and implementation of internal control procedures to safeguard financial assets and ensure accuracy in financial processes. Monitors compliance with regulatory agencies and relevant accounting standards. Research and implement AICPA pronouncements, as required.
- Leads in the preparation and coordination of audits and provide necessary documentation in a timely manner.
- Provides guidance and support to accounting staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
