About the Position
Pond's Life Science and Industrial Team is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Biocontainment experience to provide subject matter expertise (SME) in mechanical engineering for biocontainment projects. This role involves frequent travel to various project sites and requires strong technical skills to ensure the successful execution of biocontainment engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage technical resources to support biocontainment projects, ensuring they meet safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Lead engineering teams in the design, development, and implementation of biocontainment facilities and systems.
- Serve as an SME in mechanical engineering for biocontainment, providing guidance on the design, construction, and maintenance of biocontainment facilities.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in biocontainment engineering and integrate best practices into project work.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of biocontainment engineering projects, ensuring they are on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
- Ensure all engineering projects comply with relevant biosafety and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement protocols and procedures to maintain the integrity of biocontainment systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including biosafety professionals, researchers, and regulatory bodies, to align engineering efforts with organizational goals.
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Design and deliver training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge in biocontainment engineering.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biosafety Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on biocontainment or related fields.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale engineering projects and leading technical teams.
- In-depth knowledge of biocontainment engineering principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel frequently (40-50%) to various project sites, which may include biocontainment facilities, research labs, and other locations domestic and foreign.
- The role involves working in high-containment environments, necessitating adherence to strict safety protocols.
- Relevant certifications in mechanical or biosafety engineering are highly desirable.
- Provide necessary items when required by a client for background check, drug policies, and secure clearance protocols.

Additional Information Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Senior Process Engineer with a salary range of $117,400.00 - $189,500.00 .
