Location: Skillman NJ Kenvue's corporate headquarters is currently located in Skillman NJ, but is scheduled to move to Summit, NJ in or around early 2025

Travel %: < 10%

What you will do

The Senior Scientist is responsible for providing support in Technical Operations for a broad range of consumer cosmetics, OTC drug products, and OTC monograph drug products while developing deeper knowledge and benchmarking with other sites. The Senior Scientist possesses a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Working under minimal direction, this individual collaborates cross-functionally as needed to provide technical support in the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for cost reduction and critical initiatives. This individual is expected to implement technical aspects of projects and interact with multi-functional teams to implement projects.

This position plays a role in ensuring robust product development, process optimization, and adherence to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biopharmaceutical process development and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Strategy:

• Working under minimal direction, this individual provides technical support in the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for cost reduction and critical initiatives.

• Support the implementation of process science strategies aligned with the company's business goals.

2. Technical Execution

• Uses scientific principles to resolve sophisticated technical challenges while being able to articulate complex subject matter in clear, concise terms. Seeks guidance on more complex technical challenges.

• Designs, coordinates, and implements project tasks per established timeline including the execution of planned experiments (i.e., sample collection, in-process testing, sample management, etc.).

• Prepares or may approve technical memos, reports, analyzes and summarizes data, and recommends conclusions based on scientific rationale. Reviews and approves reports and confirms conclusions based on scientific analysis and rationale.

• Leads technical aspects for solving supply issues, global change control, root cause analysis, and remediation for technical-related issues.

3. Executional Excellence:

• Ensure consistent execution of a single, standardized process across all operations.

• Minimize errors, improve efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards.

• Effectively manage technical transfer and life cycle management initiatives.

• Identify new agile ways and risk-based approaches to accomplish goals and objectives.

4. Product Development:

• Collaborate closely with Quality and R&D teams to ensure seamless transitions through new product development lifecycle.

• Balance speed-to-market with quality and safety requirements.

• Identifies and proposes opportunities and innovations, technical solutions or optimizations that can have significant impacts.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with Supply Chain, R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and other departments.

• Foster effective communication and collaboration.

6. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Identify and assess risks related to process changes, scalability, and compliance.

• Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure smooth operations.

7. Stakeholder Communication:

• Provide regular updates to stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

• Communicate progress, challenges, and achievements

8. Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay informed about industry regulations and standards.

• Ensure process science activities adhere to legal requirements.

9. Team Development:

• Provide direction and mentorship to scientists and co-ops.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field.

• At least 4 years of experience in Consumer, OTC or Pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred. GMP experience is preferred. Experience in a highly regulated environment is preferred.

• Strong process knowledge related to process/product development is required.
