SUMMARY
The Sensory Scientist II is a more experienced position within the field of sensory science. They have advanced knowledge and expertise in studying and understanding human perception and sensory experiences related to various products or stimuli. Sensory Scientist II typically have more responsibilities and may take on leadership roles within sensory research projects. A Sensory Scientist II may also be involved in project management, data analysis, or contributing to the development of research proposals in support of USAARL in Fort Novosel, AL.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) and a minimum of two to four (2-4) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Must have an extensive understanding of human perception, advanced knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques, and statistical analysis methods.
Must possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex data accurately.
Effective communication skills are also important for presenting findings to stakeholders or clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned.
knowledgeable in a relevant field of sensory neuroscience (e.g., vision, audition, or vestibular science) and have experience working in a research laboratory.
Demonstrated their ability to independently plan, execute, analyze, and report on their research through their graduate dissertation.
demonstrated their subject matter expertise in one of three neurosensory areas (vision, audition, or vestibular science) with notable publications in sensory physiology or psychophysical studies that have elucidated a functional or descriptive nature of an underlying mechanism of sensory processing.
Held in high esteem by his peers as witnessed by presenting original work at national and/or international meetings and by chairing and/or co-chairing sessions in his field at these same meetings.
Requires experience managing a research laboratory, including technicians and other junior scientists.
Developing protocols, completing data collection, data analyses, and report generation.
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
expected to write proposals, reports and publications, and present their findings in meetings.
The contractor shall perform a variety of complicated tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
