Sr. Opto-Mechanical Engineer - Medical Device

Description: The Judge Group is currently seeking a Sr. Opto-Mechanical Engineer with medical Device experience for a full time opportunity.

This role requires expertise in system and optics packaging, medical product design, innovative design solutions, and mechanical analysis.

Location: Marlborough, MA - Fully Onsite

Type: Full Time Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead device development projects or sub-projects, focusing on the packaging of lasers, scanners, and electronics.
• Specialize in packaging electronics and optics, manufacturing methods, and tooling.
• Utilize SolidWorks to design complex, high-value systems, incorporating aspects of industrial design, opto-mechanical packaging, and molded plastic design.
• Understand and design assembly, test, and alignment processes, including necessary tooling.
• Manage sourcing of components and sub-assemblies, including process evaluation, vendor sourcing, and prototype builds.
• Participate in the gated medical design process, including design reviews, risk analysis, and compliance with CE approval cycles.
• Design, build, and test prototype systems or sub-modules, developing assembly or alignment methods and fixtures.
• Contribute to documentation in line with medical SOPs, supporting submissions and creation of Design History Files (DHF).

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and packaging of medical systems and devices.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, including opto-mechanical design, sheet metal, and assembly documentation.
• Comprehensive understanding of tolerance analyses and drawing methods.
• Full knowledge of fabrication processes for enclosures, molded parts, cast parts, and stereolithographic parts.
• Experience with Arena or equivalent PLM systems at a high level.
• Prior experience with a medical device manufacturer, adhering to medical practices and protocols.
