Job Description:
Our client is hiring a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Project Manager to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves leading large, multi-stakeholder information systems projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the success of our projects, from initiation through to completion, across our expansive transnational rail network. This position offers the chance to work on groundbreaking projects that support economic growth throughout North America. The role is full-time and may require up to 25% travel.
Responsibilities:
- Work with technical and business leaders to define project investment opportunities, including scope, schedule, budget, and benefits.
- Identify and negotiate project resource requirements with delivery organizations, set delivery expectations, and evaluate delivery performance.
- Direct accountability for planning and executing Agile projects, ensuring project performance criteria are met.
- Facilitate interactions between Technical Leads, Project Delivery Staff, and QE Leads to align project delivery and testing completion.
- Plan project implementations, lead Go live activities, and ensure production implementations do not adversely impact the production environment.
- Escalate material issues and risks to leadership in a timely fashion and ensure Organizational Change Management activities are completed.
- Follow IS PMO processes regarding deliverables, stage gates, and controls in compliance with SOX and management controls.
- Develop, monitor, and control all aspects of project delivery in accordance with best practices and provide regular status updates to senior management.
Qualifications: - Significant experience leading large, multi-stakeholder information systems projects.
- Post-secondary education in Commerce/Business, Engineering, Technology, or Computer Science.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management planning tools (MS Project preferred) and associated MS Office products.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment and ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
- Managed Software and Technology Development, and/or Application Integration projects using Iterative, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills at the root cause and complexity level.
- Experience in understanding business/technical strategies and ensuring programs/projects and services are delivered as agreed.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate preferred.
- Ability to rapidly learn new business processes and operating practices.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% as required for the role.
