POSITION: CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTANT

INDUSTRY: CONSTRUCTION

LOCATION: INDEPENDENCE, OH

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join a well established group of construction companies located in Independence, OH. This person will be responsible for full cycle accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger, financial statements and assisting the CFO with ad-hoc projects. Responsibilities:

• Approve and sign project billings, affidavits, and lien waivers.
• Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and bank accounts; monitor cash transactions daily.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, financial statements, and Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Assist with year-end audits (insurance, 401k, financial, payroll) and respond to municipal tax notices.
• Help with contractor prequalification and act as a liaison with bankers, insurance brokers, and other professionals.
• Manage the accounting and administrative team and handle special projects as assigned by the CFO.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with a focus on construction accounting.
• Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with Sage 300 is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
