About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU].

This individual will have supervisory responsibility for the Compliance and Procedures group and ownership of compliance and procedure processes within Transmission Operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the daily activities of the Transmission Operations Compliance and Procedures team.
  • Supervising a team of employees in diverse locations.
  • Maintaining a high level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day functions.
  • Driving continuous improvement and compliance culture across the business unit and FirstEnergy.
  • Assuming overall accountability for the team performance and deliverables.
  • Preparing and presenting evidence for RF and PJM regulatory audits.
  • Conducting research and interpreting regulatory standards and policies to ensure Transmission Operations business practices align with compliance requirements.
  • Preparing reports, assembling documentation, and other materials to demonstrate compliance; assisting in self-certifications, spot checks, and audit preparation. This includes documentation management of all standards, policies, procedures, and evidence to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting a document management process to ensure retrievability and cross referencing of standards, procedures, and documents.
  • Managing the Transmission Operations procedures process.
  • Being responsible for the PJM Transmission Owner/Transmission Operator Matrix of Assigned/Shared
  • Tasks and its relationship to FirstEnergy procedures and applicability to compliance standards for Transmission Operations.
  • Building working relationships with other FirstEnergy business units and maintaining strong coordination and communication to ensure a complete and thorough demonstration of FirstEnergy's compliance with regulatory standards is achieved.
  • Representing the departmental at industry groups and regulatory conferences (i.e., NERC, RF, PJM, NATF etc.).
  • Traveling, as required.

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, and 5 to 7 years of professional work experience required; regulatory compliance/audit function experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have detailed knowledge and understanding of the NERC/RF/PJM regulatory requirements.
  • Highly driven, self-motivated, and enthusiastic leader capable of communicating, motivating, and driving positive change and improvement.
  • Experience in evidence preparation for RF and PJM regulatory audits is preferred.
  • Familiarity and understanding of FE compliance-related processes, controls, and procedures strongly preferred.
  • Superior written and oral communications skills - the ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the FE organization and regulatory environment.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills for planning, developing and performing assessments and coordinating resolution of compliance issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and effectiveness in building relationships with diverse groups.
  • Proven critical thinking skills demonstrated in past job performance.
  • Proven ability to write programs, policies, procedures, reports and mitigation plans.
  • Experience in process/project management and development, planning/analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Experience with Data Analytics tools such as PowerBI and QlikView is preferred.
  • Strong written / oral communication skills to make clear, accurate, and concise reports to all audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and the ability to lead others in achieving goals for the benefit of the business unit and FirstEnergy.
  • Ability to make accurate decisions and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Display a creative and entrepreneurial approach to analyzing situations and developing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of information systems such as Microsoft Office tools, CATSWeb, FileNet/Content Navigator, and SAP preferred.
